Zpagetti Crochet Basket

I had my super fun friend for a visit this past weekend. She is quite a amazing crafter and  crochet is one of her favorite thing to do, so lucky for me
because here is what we got ourselves into, making Zpagetti basket, a pattern found in Mollie Maker magazine.
I love it! It was hard in my poor wrist, having to work with such bulk yarn, but the end result was pleasing. I end up having leftover yarn, which I was able to make a little basket, doesn't Cedar looks cute inside ? Had to pay him a whole carrot to pose for me.
P.S. we found the yarn at Wal-Mart and I believe you can find it too on Michaels

Books...well I have been trying to finish Little  Britches by Ralph Moody (love it!),  I got the book AUSTENtations crochet by Melissa Horozewski from my library, and least but not last, dreaming of beautiful farms and the country with the Country Living magazine UK.

BEAUTY

I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour, if we will only tune in. ~George Washington Carver

Nature study is not something planned in my house, just happens. In the spring always seems natural to study nature. Do you feel like that too?
Who in the Spring could resist the beautiful flowers popping everywhere, the pleasant weather, the happy sings of the birds...not I, not I !
I love to keep around copies of favorite books about nature. Right now we are enjoying:
  • Wildflowers of Texas
  • A Field Guide to the Butterflies of North America
  • A Guide to Field Identification Birds of North America
  • The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady
Do you have a favorite book about nature? I would love to know.

BABOOPRI

BAG. BOOKS. PRINTS.
   Have you visited BABOOPRI ?
My daughter is a little bookworm, and I am a great admired of the nostalgic beauty of old books. We opened BABOOPRI last year to share our love of books with others, but we haven't been given the proper attention, so some of our goals this year,  it is to add more books among bags made by me and some vintage prints and some whimsical drawings by my daughter.

The Midnight Adventures of Kelly, Dot, and Esmeralda by John S. Goodall

We Help Daddy by Mini Stein with pictures by Eloise Wilkin A little Golden Book.

This little business already gave her the chance to learn about costumer service, photography, reinvesting , economizing.

She says that her plans for her profit is to save and buy treats for Cedar, her new adorable Guinea pig.
Are you looking for a specific book ? Or for a special vintage image? Maybe we could help, it would delight us to help you.

Hello,Hello

I am in the midst of moving right now, so packing and packing is on the top of my priority list right now (not my favorite project). It is a bitter sweet time putting favorite things away, moving...but we are excited about our new place and a new beginnings too. Somehow I managed last week to try making little houses out of my fabric scraps, a distraction in the midst of chaos,  I don't know exactly what I will be making with it, maybe a little wall quilt, pillows, bag??? Out of my craziness I also decided to sign up to a mini quilt swap. Would my basket of fabric pass for rainbow colors? Is what my partner in the quilt swap likes, a  little different for me, choosing solid colors, since I love floral, vintage reproductions, tiny prints...but will be fun to take the challenge.
Anyway, must go back to packing.

The Cutest Christmas Ornament

This is one of my favorite Christmas Ornaments. It has been inspired by the one my sister-in-law made as a little girl, I always loved the simplicity and the vintage feeling to it.

The process is pretty self explanatory and the materials are really minimum(scrapbook paper, ribbons, fine markers, ink). I made those with my daughter and nephew, I also made one with my husband ,daughter and my finger print and added the year to it. The possibilities are really endless... Wouldn't  be cute making one for a teacher with her pupils finger print?

Tip: Help you kids, specially the little ones with the finger print part, since it can be a little messy. Also let dry for a bit, before any writing.
Right now I am in the process to make a hand sewn one too, with some cute holiday fabrics.
What are you making for Christmas? Any simple ideas to make with the kids?

My shawl- Yarn Along

I have been wanting to make a shawl for the longest time, actually since a saw this pink shawl in the movie  Nicholas  Nickleby a few years ago. Isn't it beautiful!!
The one that I am making isn't like that shawl at all, it is a simply project just with granny square. But, I like the look so far anyway.
What I like the most about this shawl, it start with a conversation at a bookstore, where I met a complete stranger, who gladly interrupt her project and cut a piece of her yarn to make me the little sample on how to make this simple shawl. Isn't that so sweet!

Anyway, if you have a crochet pattern that you like similar to the one in the movie, please let me know where can I find it.

Right now I am enjoying Tasha Tudor's book "Take Joy" and A Jane Austen Devotional by Steffany Woolsey.

New Braunfels/Gruene

We spent our Thanksgiving weekend enjoying the lovely town of New Braunfels.  Gruene is a Historical district  by New Braunfels, if you are a visitor it is a must stop place for eating and shopping. But our purpose was really to enjoy the general area and nature.
